Spend an amazing week in Cape Town learning to surf with 'Stoked School of Surf', the best mobile surf school in the country. Whether you're an absolute beginner, or a novice wanting to brush up on your skills, this is a week you'll never forget!
This package includes all your accommodation and transfers with four 2-hour group surf lessons scheduled during your stay. Everything is covered, from surf safety and ocean awareness, to paddling technique, how to stand up and surf the waves, turning and trimming green waves to wave selection and rules of the surf.
After four surf lessons you are guaranteed to be 'stoked' and ready to venture off into the appropriate 'beginner' surf on your own. Your surf instructors will advise what equipment is best for you, and should you decide to purchase your own gear, they will even guide you to the stores with the best deals.
Lessons take place at the most suitable beach depending on the conditions each day. We check the forecast on several reliable sources and combine this information with our local knowledge to decide where we will coach each day. We consider factors such as wind, tides, swell direction and ocean temperatures before making our decision to provide the safest and most enjoyable experience.
All your lessons include the use of:
We use quality 4:3mm wetsuits to keep you warm throughout the year. Wetsuits are well maintained-washed and rinsed after each use. We use beginner specific softboards for those who have never touched a surfboard or only surfed a handful of times. These boards are easy to catch waves with and make standing easier as they are stable. If you have a bit more surfing experience and are wanting to use a regular epoxy/fibreglass board, kindly let us know when you book.
This is a great week to add to any volunteer project, and a perfect reason to extend your stay in Cape Town. All you need to join is a basic swimming ability and a 'can do' attitude. If you've never touched a surf board before, don't worry. You'll learn everything you need to know in a relaxed surfing environment with a great bunch of ocean loving people.

We will normally schedule your lessons for the first four days following your arrival in Cape Town. This allows some extra time in case of weather delays. We will let you know your morning or afternoon pick-up times in advance. Your instructor will pick you up from Ashanti Lodge and transport you to the beach with the most ideal wind and swell conditions on each day you have a lesson scheduled.
Upon arrival at the beach, we change into our wetsuits and hit the surf for a 2-hour lesson. Each of the four lessons is progressive, so that you learn new skills in each lesson. Skills taught are based on your personal progression so that you are never out of a depth where you feel comfortable.
